Livescape is proud to present American synth pop revitalists, Neon Trees Live in Hard Rock Cafe Bali on 29 July. Neon Trees debut show in Bali is also Livescape´s first ever international live event and what better way than to feature Billboard Music Awards 2011´s winner of Alternative Song of The Year for this momentous occasion.
The story of the all-Mormon Utah synth-pop revitalists Neon Trees began in Southern California in 2004 when frontman Tyler Glenn and guitarist Chris Allen´s fathers suggested that the two jammed together. The band then moved to Utah separately and made fans in the Killers, who eventually helped them score a record deal in 2008.
Despite of their name, Neon Trees, being a group of tree huggers isn´t how they got their title. The band was inspired by the lighted trees on the In-N-Out Burger signs instead. The rest of the Neon Trees which includes Branden Campbell on bass and Elaine Bradley on drums and vocals, doesn´t fall into the typical rock band cliché. All four of them are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The band doesn´t preach their Mormon teachings in their songs, but none of them drink or party either. But that doesn´t stop them from producing amazing songs like ‘Snap the Flash’ and ‘Sister Stereo’ before scoring their record deal. Despite releasing prior independent productions, the band released their debut album Habits, in March, 2010. The hit single, ‘Animal’ was shortly featured as the Free Single of the Week on iTunes in that same month.
Their infectious single has also been featured on a commercial for Las Vegas and remixed by popular American DJ, Kaskade. ‘Animal’ was also performed by the cast of Glee on episode 15 of Season Two. Earlier this year, Neon Trees won their first accolade, winning Alternative song of The Year for ‘‘Animal’ at the Billboard Music Awards, beating Mumford & Sons, Train, and Linkin Park.
Their past tours have included playing alongside Mutemath and Street Drum Corps and they even opened for the 30 Seconds To Mars tour in 2010. Neon Trees have also headlined festivals like the Summer 2010 Bang The Gong Tour and Lollapalooza.
This July, Neon Trees will be bringing their award winning sounds to the most appropriate venue to showcase their musical genius, which is of course, Hard Rock Cafe in Bali.
