Radio host, producer, international DJ, curator, festival founder, record label boss and tastemaker extraordinaire, Gilles Peterson is one of those rare chameleons who refuses to be defined. As the newly appointed creative director of WeTransfer, Gilles proves that his time of experimentation is far from over, and with the 2016 launch of his own digital radio station, Worldwide FM, he continues to set new standards for himself and the industry. Gilles’ multifaceted character easily translates into his music curation, which is never stuck on a single genre or geographic location. It’s no wonder he holds the record for compilation albums, having put together over 100 releases.
We’re extremely excited that this OG selector is returning to Potato Head on Monday, 12 November. His last visit to our tropical island home was immortalized with his discovery of Dea Barandana, the man behind our own Studio Eksotika and whose set Gilles praised as the best DJ session he’d witnessed in a decade. Dea, also known for transcending genres, will again set the stage for Gilles, who will seamlessly move between everything from obscure Latin to hip-hop, from South African underground house to classic jazz-funk, or anything else imaginable. Trust him to connect all the dots when he takes tight hold of the reigns and manoeuvres a musical concoction of legends for a collective journey of dance and discovery.
